Gizmo
January 10, 2010
He'll be leaving on Tuesday—essentially forever.
He wants all three of us here. Today though, was confirmed without any doubt, that his wish cannot occur. And with that, my buddy of more than seventeen years will be gone.
I am so grateful for the time in his life that he has shared with me.
There'll never be another Gizmo.
Perhaps a lesson for me is to be grateful for time that life has shared with me. I am blessed. I know that Gizmacho is too.
Thank you my dear old friend, thank you.
As I continue to sing the song you taught me, I will embrace you, and feel our presence together.
I love you.
Gizmo: The most wonderful yellow headed coackatiel birdie in the whole wide world.
UPDATE: November 8, 2010. Gizmo is back home, here at Sleeping Bear Oasis. Cheryl suspected, and now that he's been back for a couple of months I defintely agree, that he will be happier here--I don't know know about happier, but he is happy to be back home. And I'm happy to have my buddy.
UPDATE: February 14, 2011. This morning I cry, because Gizmo is truly in decline. I guess at age 22 it's to be expected, and of course he's been in decline for some time now--years in fact--but he's been a survivor. He knows he's loved, and so he loves his life. The last two mornings when I've removed his nightime cover, he's been on the floor of his house--having fallen off his perch during the night. He's been so incredibly sweet.

22.06.11: My best buddy, Gizmo, passed away Summer Solstice night--probably early morning on June 22. He was 22 years old--a grandfather of health, wisdom and happiness. This photo was taken seven days before Solstice. May his spirit be happy, healthy, and holy forever.
